Ostensibly perhaps, but I'm not so sure that this is the reality. QX60 and QX80 are both rebadged Nissans. The Q50 uses Nissans FM and their VQV6 engine, the Q60 is a rebadged and softer 370Z and the Eau Rouge uses Nissans GTR engine.

While the idea certainly sounds romantic I'm not sure its tied completely to reality, after all Johan De Nysschen left because Nissan was far too intrusive in the decision making at Infiniti...

at least they see the need to change, now to see it actually happen.

I have noticed that many brands are trying to become independent of brands related to them, like Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, and what you mentioned, probably others as well. This might be part of that.
