Hi to all :)

I love my new QX30 but unfortunately I've a truble with the electrical fuel supply door... don't open!! :crying:
When I press on the door to open it feels a little engine noise as if the motor was running but does not open.
Of course I tried several times to unlock and lock the car with the key, but without success.
I read that other cars have the option to open it manually via a lever accessible in the trunk, I tried to search it in mine but I did't found it.
I also read the car's manual but is not mentioned.

How can I do? I'm in fuel reserves :crying::crying:

Thanks
David

Sorry to hear that, David.

Have a look at this video:

As you know, our fuel-filler door is on the left side of the vehicle. There should be a panel on the left side as well. Maybe there is something in there that is similar to the video above.

According to our owner's manual, there is no reference to a manual override. In comparison with the GLA owner's manual, the problem is at least documented (attached):

Problem: The fuel filler flap is unlocked, but the opening mechanism is jammed.
Possible causes/consequences and ► Solutions: The fuel filler flap is unlocked, but the opening mechanism is jammed. ► Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

You may want to contact Infiniti roadside assistance.

2 weeks now with my qx30s and same problem since day 1. After trying for 30mins at the gas station and reading the manual for the 10th time i just gave it a hard hit and it worked. it opens easy when it wants only and now and then it opens by itself.

Havent called dealer but if you have found a solution or called the dealer let us know.

Often you have to open the trunk and peel back the trunk liner on the side of the gas tank to reveal the manual open lever. But in some vehicles its already visible and accessible without pulling back the liner.

Fuel filler also won't open.....

New owner (in Scotland). went to fill up at 7.30 pm - filler door won't open. Also spent 30 minutes in the garage feeling a complete fool. Eventually had to give up and go home. Called Infiniti Assist. RAC duly turned up 2 hours later and also couldn't fix it or find a manual override - said its the first car he's ever seen with no manual override. it s now 1030pm, so I am going to have to cancel my plans for tomorrow (golf with 3 mates) and try to get Infinit to fix it. Got a 600 mile journey on Monday, so not feeling confident.
From looking at this forum, as well as general Internet, this is clearly a well known problem. So why is there no manual override ?!
Other than that (and all the electronic problems I've had) I love the car!

Sorry to hear that, Ron. I was also surprised to learn that there's no mechanical override for the fuel door. As I mentioned in my earlier post, at least the GLA owner's manual documents that it's a known problem. I would hate to have this problem on a long road trip in the middle of nowhere. Keep us posted on how Infiniti responds.

Barely 3 months with my qx30 and my gas door panel won't open. Apparently the part is on national back order. Could be 1week, could be more than a month. The idea that I have to go to the dealer to have my fuel door opened for me to get fuel so far is ridiculous. How can there be no accessible latch inside to manually open it. If another week goes by I think I may need to get an option 'B' into place cause I didn't leave Honda which I've had 12 of for a luxury brand and I thought better car for this. My Hondas all had the latch inside the car, I'm just mind blown right now that something so small is creating one heck of a headache. How long did it take for anyone here to get this fixed? I'm in Illinois btw

I have just joined the stuck fuel flap brigade and have fumes in the tank.. - I called out the breakdown and they say all they can do is break the catch, which as under warranty still, I obtained a disclosure from the Infinity dealership.
Breakdown service on their way again. (I have managed to reach in between the two skins of the car and can feel a plastic mechanism, unfortunately cannot get my hand in the right position to hook underneath the pull it back.. (not sure if it would work anyway). so unless this breakdown guy has more agile arm, wrist and fingers than me, guess the lock will have to be broken.

This does seem to be a fault with QX30, Q30, A Class and GLA - so why don't they address it !

One of my colleagues had this problem on his gf's QX30. Sounds like it isn't an isolated incident. Hmm.

Reading this thread has me thinking about the good old days when we had fuel doors that opened without any of this. There used to be the concern that someone might come and siphon your gas but I haven't heard reports about that in a while. Maybe if you live in somewhere like Detroit.

It's bad enough that the G35 coupe often required some weird sort of door lock & fuel door secret activation and synchronization sequence periodically. I learned to keep instructions on my phone for such pump-side emergencies. (Don't get me started on the G35 trunk release...)
I can't believe fuel tank access is STILL an Infiniti issue 10+ years later. Surely it can't be that hard!

Has anyone considered overriding the locking mechanism? As indicated below if anyone really wanted to siphon your juice they could just force the flap. I looked at blocking the door catch with a piece of rubber to stop the hook catching but wasn't sure if that would cause a problem with the solenoid which drives the hook. The ideal solution (besides a mechanical override) is removal of the hook but not sure how it comes off.

My fuel door randomly pops wide open...even on interstate driving! (Safety issue also - fully open it blocks side view mirror vision). Not good.

Update: Brought my car to the dealer for fuel door randomly popping open. Picked it up after work and they said they could not duplicate the problem so took no action.
Next day I stopped to fill up...fuel door wouldn't open! Took awhile, clicking fob and pressing on door, until it suddenly opened.
Now back to the dealer for new problem.

Do you hear the servos trying to open the mirrors? If no, then I'd start with checking the fuse.

Yes I did, actually the problem was the actuator. Replaced it and it’s working fine now. I am sharing this video that helped me open manually the fuel door:
