4 WD not available

Hello guys,
Well guys bad news for my car....... I was having troubles with my battery not keeping charge, having issues in the morning and once the car turned on then it wouldn't shift gears actually the lights on the gear selector wouldn't lit and when tried to switch gears it would not do anything, would not allow me to deactivate the emergency brake and the main screen kept on cycling between cameras/gps/sensors.....
the screen on the dash said: 4 WD not available.
Took it to the dealer they had it for 2 days then replaced the battery... all good for 2 days, then yesterday, was turning on no problems but after a few minutes of driving got on limp mode.... check engine light on, message on the screen 4 WD not available again.... switching gear rough..... this afternoon tried to turn it on and seemed like battery was dead again
Will be going on Monday to dealer
any thoughts? someone having same problems?

I had the same problem too. Car was just dead one morning with the "4WD not available" displayed on dash. Had to jump it, took about 30 minutes. Check engine light stayed on for a drive cycle. That was about 3 weeks ago. Took it to dealership last week for diagnosis, and obviously they couldn't pull any codes and found nothing wrong.

I suspect this will be the next service bulletin... (after the one they did for crooked steering alignment).
I'm back from the dealer and of course no codes stored in the system...... but I think I got some "good" news for now, I am not the only one having this trouble and there is another car in Toronto that had same issues and now is in the dealer and some infiniti engineers are studying the case and as Smittylit said most probably will be a service bulletin coming up. Now if you guys have this issue do not disregard it if it goes away..... we all need to report any minor issue to infiniti so they understand what is going on and find a solution, I would hate that when the warranty expires all the "small issues" start to add up to something expensive.
Keep us posted if you have the problem and report it.
(now I am not aware of the steering alignment problem........ )

Thanks for the heads up! Sounds like something is draining the batter quickly, but this is just an assumption from me. Perhaps a recall in the future is in order.
Update..... after a week at the dealer and them consulting with the tech line, they disconected, check and reconnected the harness that goes to the gear selector and the controls on the middle console (arm rest). Put it all back together and tried it, now the car is working fine, no error messages, no check engine light or codes.
It seems it was only a loose connection.......

It’s both funny and grrewr to stumble upon another(s) you have experience this, Seemingly rare, Infiniti QX30 issue. Mine is a 2017 this 79k…. Never had really “major” issues yet. Matter of fact, she dominates the rides with her stockiness. the only issues is was having was that my Automatic start, stopped working. I’d hit the button to disengage it and then engage it… but again, the automatic start ceases completely (I thought nothing bad of it).. then all the USB and 12V sockets started stopping… not all at once, but one in the succession to the next… I can no longer charge my phone in my car… FML NOW TO TOO THE CAKE…. She won’t even start!!!! Over the past 2.5 days, my QX30 tells me (1) 4WD not available … folled by “VISIT THE DEAL” in RED… and never starts I scheduled an appointment with the deal…it’s sounding like an expensive doctor visit for my car
Hello
Having the same problem what happened at dealer
I am having the same issue. How was it fixed?
airgordon1971, i see the other fella did not respond to your inquiry (drwfloyd). i just went outside to start my 2017 qx30 and these messages just came up. 4wd not available and visit the dealer (in red) plus the service b thingy is on. It is -26 Celsius out here and i am wondering if the temperature has anything to do with the car not starting. It does jump forward like the clutch is engaged but the car is an automatic and in economy mode. Any solutions?

I have not gotten a solution yet as my daughter has it at college. I am going on Wednesday but I’ve been told to check and see if the shifter is loose. To ensure it’s in park or neutral and to see if that allows it to start. I think this has something to do with the harness as the earlier posts shows that fixed the issue. Let me know if you can a resolution before I do and I will do the same for you.

Thanks air. Looks like crap cold all week where i'm living, so i'm going to let the car sit until the 27-28th when it warms up. I will plug it in (if there is a plug-in) and boost it should i need to. It seems to have the juice to start, it just doesn't. i will post when and if the thing does start/drive. Otherwise, it is getting towed to the dealer and prayers that it will start on fire on its own accord.
Update, dealership took the obvious quick route and are changing both batteries. They didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that the 4WD currently not available has to do with the drivetrain and not just the battery. I agree the batteries probably now need to be changed due to the fact that something is drawing heavily on them to kill them both. I have little faith that this will be the end resolution.
