Question Engine Coolant

I couldn't find a thread on this, but I got a notification on my screen that I need to add some coolant to my car. It says to use Infiniti coolant or BASF Glysantin G40. I don't feel like driving over to my dealership for such a small thing. But, it doesn't seem like BASF Glysantin G40 is sold in regular auto shop stores. Or is it? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Looks like it is ZEREX G40, per Google.

I would check it first, to see if the sensor is faulty, before buying anything.

Definitely. I was going to see if the levels were truly off before I filled. I smelled coolant though, so it may be a warranty issue either way if it's the sensor or a leak.

Same thing is happening with my QX30. I only get the Check Coolant message first start up of the day when it's cold outside like 45 degrees or below. After that it's fine and all subsequent starts don't have the message and it's not even stored in the Messages area. The dealership says to check to see if I'm actually low on coolant but wouldn't it always have that error message and not just on first start up? And the manual isn't really clear on how to check. The diagram is horrible.

Exactly my same scenario. Under 45 degrees, first thing in the morning only. And I finally checked in the morning before first start, and it's totally full. You can follow the manual or just eyeball it really. In my case, the coolant is almost to the top before start, so it is definitely not low.

Dealer ended up replacing the coolant reservoir. It has the coolant level sensor built in. Since it was swapped out, no more "Check Coolant Level" message

So that's 3 of us on here with the same issue? Ugh, okay. I'll have them replace the reservoir next maintenance.

Make that four. I've also had this issue since late August or so. I'm actually out of the country and have been for the past month, so I haven't taken the car to the dealership. The message goes away after about five minutes of driving, so I really didn't bother to check the level out of pure laziness. I'm sure it's minor, but it just made me ask what is it with German platforms and cooling issues?

And make that 5, coolant was not actually low and I'm getting a new reservoir (which is back ordered). I wasn't able to find the G40 anywhere locally, which I mentioned to the dealer - they said it was good that I didn't use anything else and to stop by and get it from them if I actually ever need any.
