Default Resonator delete

Being used to a nice growl / purr on my EX35 with the G37s Coupe exhaust, I always found the exhaust note on our QX30 to be more than conservative. (it sounds like a hybrid) I have been searching for a decent priced cat-back exhaust or some mods... Listened to more than a ton of GLA250s, CLA250s and even a couple QX30s that have had the muffler delete. I was tempted, but didn't want the fart-can effect. (Some mods sounded like this and others didn't)... So I took a drive to a respected performance exhaust shop and asked for some education and options. Based on what I wanted (just a little deeper tone and maybe a little hint of raspy, they suggested a simple resonator delete to start with...and even offered to put it back to stock if I didn't like it.
A whopping $60 later, I like it.... a lot.
If I decide I want more later, I can still do the cat-back...or find a pre-owned AMG muffler and just swap it with the stock muffler. Bottom line is that it is a slight improvement to my ears and enjoyment... Removing the resonator will not give the same results as an aftermarket exhaust system in terms of noise, and it sounds much better than removing the muffler and there is no drone. If you want a slightly throatier exhaust that your neighbors won't know is much different from your original system then this is a good mod.
It isn't for everyone so if it isn't for you, this post isn't for you. It is just for those who are curious and might have been tempted.

Here is a decent video that gives you a good idea of the sound.

This is a good approach. The root of the issue is the turbocharged engine vs. the naturally aspirated V6 of the old QX50/EX35 and G35/37. On the newer turbo VQ series engines, lots of people have been doing a muffler delete and liking the sound. In fact, Infiniti's official offering is basically a straight pipe.

Hello XIS , I’m trying to do a resonator delete for my qx30 2.0T. I saw TWO round shape resonators on the pipe. Shall I just delete the rear one or I should just take away them both ?? Thank you.

I only removed the front one. Still super happy I did it. Let me know how you like it!
