Default There must be a QX30 Hybrid

I have been thinking about the competitors of the QX30. Cars like the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, and the Lexus NX. All of these vehicles have hybrid offerings, which makes me think that the QX30 must also be getting a hybrid model. The QX30 seems to be the perfect size for a hybrid, small, but not too small. Fuel efficiency gains will be enough to make the hybrid worthwhile for consumers. We already know that Nissan has has lots of hybrid technology with its Leaf vehicle, as well as many other hybrid vehicles in its lineup.

the QX30 is actually smaller than all of those. The NX is the only one semi comparable size wise, and its hybridization is directly attributed to the Prius/Lexus CT. The drive train is identical.

The QX30 shares a platform and running gear with the Mercedes GLA/CLA and A class, none of which are hybridized. Diesel perhaps, but hybrid just doesn't seem viable or worth while.

Interesting. I thought for sure it would get a hybrid. A diesel is welcome too.

Isn't there even a hybrid of the Audi Q3 though, which might be more comparable?

Mercedes isn't really into hybrids right now though. Do they make any hybrids at all?

I don't think that Infiniti needs to follow Benz, though the fact that Benz is not doing it may speak to what the market is like for hybrids of this size.

GLA and QX30 are joined at the hip. The platform was co developed, they share power trains and will roll off the same assembly line. What one does the other will as well...

So not only is the platform the same, they are also being built in the same facility? Is this platform not capable of taking a hybrid powertrain? Infiniti has no room to play with the powertrain?

I've just been reading that Mercedes will be offering a hybrid of the GLA/CLA by 2020, considering the platform is shared with the QX30 ostensibly we can assume the QX30 will get a hybrid around te same time. Perhaps first??

Quote:
The latest model in Mercedes’ portfolio to receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain is the flagship S-Class. The C-Class, as well as the next-generation E, GLK and M Class (likely to be renamed GLE) will be the next models to receive a hybrid powertrain. By 2020, the CLA and GLA will also receive electrified powertrains.

I think that Infiniti is planning on doing a lot of hybrids in the future. most brands are in fact. And I also think that the QX30 would take to being a hybrid well. All signs point to yes for me.
