Default Initial Infiniti QX30 Sport Thoughts

Zac Estrada from Carscoops had a chance to test drive the 2017 Infiniti QX30 Sport and he has shared with us a few of his initial thoughts on the matter while answering a few pressing questions.

Who is the QX30 Sport?

The QX30 goes by many names around the world. In Europe it has a Q30 badge, but in the States it is called the QX30. Similarly, what’s known as the QX30 in Europe is called the QX30 AWD in the U.S. Confused yet? No matter the name, the crossover is still the same vehicle that shares an engine, platform, and interior with the Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Hatch instead of an SUV?

Estrada just calls the QX30 a hatchback instead of a crossover. To him, it is a quirky yet “good-looking hatch” with Infiniti design elements.

A car unto its own.
The QX30 may borrow a lot of features from Mercedes, but it’s still a car unlike any other produced by Nissan or Infiniti. There’s a lot of Mercedes cues like the seat controls on the door, gauges and steering wheel.

Solid drive performance.
Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four that’s cranking out 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the QX30 will move well once it accelerates to higher speeds. One drawback is that the crossover stumbles a bit at lower speeds thanks to a dual-clutch transmission, but that should correct itself once the vehicle is underway.

Pricing
The QX30 may seem pricy with an MSRP of $39,495 but you can choose to add both a moonroof and navigation at no charge. With both options tacked on, the QX30’s price and offering is competitive with a similarly equipped Audi A3 or Mercedes-Benz GLA250.
